Top Spring Scenic Walks in Melbourne

When the sun is shining, the skies are clear and the temperatures increase, Melbourne is one of the most beautiful cities in Australia to explore. Many of the top places to explore are free – which is perfect for any budget traveller. Here’s our first round of top three picks of places to visit in Melbourne during Spring

  1. Carlton Gardens
    Royal Exhibition Building

An Instagrammer’s dream, Carlton Gardens are dreamy on a beautiful Spring day. Be sure to beat the newly wedded couples getting their professional photos taken and get some great snaps of the Royal Exhibition Building and the beautiful fountains in the southern annex of the gardens. Carlton Gardens is a great place to have a picnic and soak up the surrounds.
  2. Brighton Bathing BoxesBrighton Bathing Boxes
On 13km south from the City of Melbourne, the Brighton Bathing Boxes are only a short scenic stroll from Brighton Beach Station (on the Sandringham Line). These iconic beach boxes were one of Melbourne’s top attractions in the late 19th Century and continue to be one of the city’s top spots to visit. Get in early in the morning or close to sunset to beat the rush of other tourists. Continue walking north to soak in the beauty of the lesser known Hampton Beach or go south for other iconic beaches in Elwood and St. Kilda.
  3. Yarra River Trail from South Yarra – Flinders Street StationYarra River
The 30 minute walk from South Yarra – Flinders Street Station is beautiful on a warm spring day. Stroll along the river and stop just before the Olympic Boulevard bridge for a spot of lunch – whether that is a chilled food platter or a BBQ! Stay closer to Flinders Street during sunset and early evening for some great photos of the city skyline.
