It has been the home of Australian Football since 1859 and is known as the birth place of Test Cricket and One-Day International Cricket. The MCG was the main stadium for the 1956 Olympic Games and the 2006 Commonwealth Games, attracts up to 100,000 footy fans each year for the AFL Grand Final and hosts the renowned Boxing Day Test. The stadium is easily accessible by public transport and is within walking distance to the CBD.
