The scenic Fitzroy Gardens are named after Sir Charles Augustus Fitzroy, famously known for being the Governor of New South Wales from 1851–1855 and the Governor-General of the Australian Colonies from 1851–1855.

With a history spanning over 150 years, the Fitzroy Gardens are visited by over 2 million local, interstate and international visitors each year. Highlights of the gardens include Captain Cook’s 1755 family cottage, a beautiful conservatory in the Spanish-mission style, a carved Fairies Tree, a model Tudor Village and an impressive collection of fountains, statues and memorials that have been accumulated over the years.
