In 2016, The Melbourne International Comedy Festival is celebrating its 30th Birthday with a bang. Bursting to the brim with international and local acts alike, the four week-long festival has got something for everyone to have a chuckle at. Organizers have revealed a record breaking number of acts for this year, with 559 confirmed performances at 145 venues by over 3000 funny people. ibis Styles Melbourne, The Victoria Hotel is one of the many hosts scattered throughout Melbourne during the funny season, with some outstanding shows coming to you by:

Anthony Morgan – it’s all about the ‘youth’ in Youth Reference.

Becky Lucas – Her brand new show ‘Baby’ is going to be fun and exciting. However, If you wear wraparound sunglasses or have a red rummy face apparently it will not be for you.

Demi Lardner – As seen on JFL Sydney’s Stand Up Series and ABC’s Comedy Late, ‘Life Mechanic’ is here to help you.

Dilruk Jayasinha – ‘Sri Wanka’. I don’t think anything else needs to be said? A ‘token’ event during the comedy season, Dilruk has featured on ABC’s Sammy J & Randy in Rickets Lane and was a sell out during last year’s International Comedy Festival.

Jeff Green – Known as the ‘Legend from Edinburgh Fringe’, the UK Comic is back with ‘This is Your Life’.

John Cruckshank – Don’t miss out the difference between everything and nothing in ‘Pleasure Avalanche’

Karl Chandler – ‘Defends His Title as World’s Greatest and Best Comedian’ is definitely a big call when naming a stand up act. However, by bringing along a different comedian to every show to help/heckle him, I am pretty sure that he will be a strong contender in this year’s greatest and best comedian race. A cult-hit of 2015’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival, he is not to be missed.

Luisa Omielan – After her successful debut ‘What Would Beyoncé Do?’, Luisa will be prividing her hilarious insight about sex, mental health and body image during ‘Am I Right Ladies?!’.

Rose Matafeo – After a sold out tirade in New Zealand during 2013, Rose will be staging her own funeral this year in ‘Finally Dead’

Shiralee Hood – Sometimes you need to tell it how it is, and that’s what our #1 Aboriginal Female Comedian will be doing this year during ‘Rock The Boat’.

Tim Vine – Another legendary comic, Tim will be bringing another round of laughs and ridiculousness in ‘Tim Timinee Tim Timinee Tim Tim to You’.

Zoe Coombs Marr – Abandoning stand-up to attempt a ‘silent Gaulier’ clowning show that won’t offend anyone, Dave is back for ‘Trigger Warning’

Over the years, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival has grown into a spectacular showcase of stand up and cabaret acts, sketch shows and plays, as well as improvisational theatre, debates, musical shows and art exhibitions. Don’t miss out on a fantastic array of funny acts by hilarious people during this year’s festival.
