Titanic, The Artefact Exhibition
14th May - 17 October 2010 | Melbourne Museum
The Titanic and its demise has always interested people no matter what age. On April 15, 1912, Titanic, the world’s largest ship, sank after colliding with an iceberg, claiming more than 1,500 lives and shaking the world’s confidence in the infallibility of modern technology.
Titanic, The Artefact Exhibition has been created with a focus on Titanic’s compelling human stories, told through authentic artefacts and exacting re-creations of the Ship’s interior. As you enter the exhibition you will be given a replica pass of an actual passenger and then journey through the life of Titanic from construction, life on board, its ill fated voyage and the recovery of artefacts.

Over the past 19 years, more than 22 million people have seen this powerful Exhibition in major museums worldwide. Now showing at the Melbourne Museum, Titanic, The Artefact Exhibition showcases more than 280 artefacts retrieved from Titanic’s debris field, offering visitors a poignant look at this legendary Ship and its passengers and crew. The Exhibition also tells Titanic’s Australian stories, and how it's sinking strongly resonated with communities here. More information and book tickets...
